Series Editor

Overview

The series editor is used to identify an entire product series. Unlike a price list, pricing is assigned to a base item and "options" are added - some of which may be priced. Additionally, constraints may be added to identify combinations of options that are allowed.

To create a new Product Series:

 - Go to Manufacturers, then Pricing

 - highlight the Manufacturer, then go to File, New, "New Series"

Series Editor

The primary data elements are:

  • Series - A unique identifier AND the beginning characters or digits of the series catalog number
  • Description - series description
  • Created - create user and date
  • Updated - last user and date to update the price list
  • Active - identifies the series as active (usable) or not.
  • Options - A listing of the options and any required dashes
  • Rules - Constraints on how the options may or may not be selected
  • Money - Base series pricing
  • Configurations - series configuration "build notes". We know we can build these items.
  • Attachments - the standard OASIS attachments. PDF files stored here are available elsewhere in OASIS

Options

The options tab show all the different options available to the series and any required dashes. The options and dashes are listed from top to bottom on screen, but the same order is used from left to right when creating the catalog number.

  • Dash - a required dash. (OASIS does not require the dashes, but will ensure the dashes appear when a valid catalog number is identified in a quote or order.)
  • Options are:
    • A set of characters or digits representing a portion of the catalog number
    • The option may be required or optional
    • Options may affect pricing when selected or used in a catalog number
    • ORDER IS IMPORTANT!

The buttons on a dash or an option perform the following function:

  • Up - move the item up one
  • Down - move the item down one
  • Edit - edit the option
  • Delete - delete the option or dash from the option list.

Rules

By default, any option may be selected with any other option on the options tab. The rules tab shows when options may or may not be used.

Currently, only "constraints" are implemented. A constraint is a list of one or more options, identifying the selections that are allowed together. In this example, if the color "bronze" is selected, then the remaining option is constrained to just the selected 12 volt option. All other voltage selections are invalid when "bronze" is selected. (Please note that selecting the other color options do not have constraints, therefore any voltage option is allowed.)

Here are the features:

  • (Description - not labeled, just below the word "Constraint") - text here is shown to the users to explain when a constraint is broken (e.g. "not valid: G=Bronze Fixtures are 12V only").
  • Constraining - when selected, the option is used to identify when the constraint is used. At least one "constraining option" is required and at least one other option not selected as constraining. (This other option is known as the constrained option or options.)
  • Del Option - the option is removed from the constraint.
  • Add Option - a list of options is shown and may be added to the constraint.
  • Del Constraint - The entire constraint is removed from the rules.

Money

The money tab represents base series pricing.

  • Effective End - pricing will not be used after this date
  • Base Cost - average cost to build this item (for internal users only - not sent to reps).
  • Base Sell - the lowest sell price.
  • Base Commission - commission for the base sell.
  • Overageable Sell - When overage begins for the reps
  • Overageable Commission - the commission at the Overageable sell
  • Overageable Split - the split allowed for a sell price over the overageable sell

Configurations

This is a list of all the known configurations that have been built for the series. Each configuration contains an list of material used to build the item and the steps required to build one item.

See the Configuration Editor for more information.
