Explain Shipping Status

Overview

The "Explain Shipping Status" tool is used to help users figure out why an order is (or is not) on one of the "unacknowledged", "unscheduled" or "unshipped" views or reports.

How Use?

Open any order and select "Explain Shipping Status" from the "Tools" menu.

Example

Consider this order:

Some items are shipped, others scheduled and a few are not even acknowledged from the factory. The report output shows two tabs (one for each vendor order):

Some lines have no acknowledgment - so the final status shows the order will appear on the unacknowledge report.

Some lines have no schedule - so the final status shows the order will appear on the unscheduled report.

No schedule or estimated dates were given so the system is not able to calculate a when the order might appear on an unshipped report.

Now able to show on the Qty line if the number is not 100%.

Some lines have no acknowledgment - so the final status shows the order will appear on the unacknowledge report.

Some lines have no schedule - so the final status shows the order will appear on the unscheduled report.

The poles should have shipped in October (the report was run in November) - so the final status shows the order will appear on the unshipped report.

Notes

At the header level, text may turn "red" to indicate the item will block the order from showing on the reports. Here are some examples:

  • Hold orders
  • Canceled orders
  • Non transmitted orders
  • Out of territory customers
  • Invoice only manufacturers

At the line level, the text may show as "-" and the part number will dim if the item has been split. This shows the item was split and the shipping status is produced from the splits only.

Also at the line level, text may appear "dim" to show the line is not a factor for the style of report, normal text if the condition is satisfied (in many cases) or bold if the item will cause the shipping status to show for the order (assuming the header level is not ignored for another condition).

The final status shows the status by report type.
