OASIS uses ANSI standard SQL and is compatible with a number of relational databases. Primary support is for Sybase's Adaptive Server Anywhere (ASA). With over 10 years of service with Sybase and hundreds of database installations, the ASA database software has proven to be fast, fault resistant, and cost effective.
This document only shows the two primary database driver connections for Sybase Adaptive Server Anywhere.

Quite simply, one is fast and the other is more durable
- ASAODBC - Only available on Windows and uses the most feature rich and fastest communication protocols to talk to the ASA database.
- Sybase - uses a native Java driver and is less likely to crash
This process must be repeated on each affected workstation (this is not a server or global setting).
First, login as a user with administrative rights in OASIS. Then Select "Configuration" the "Software":

For most uses the settings for ASAODBC are very easy: Set "Kind" to "ASAODBC". All other entries should be set to "oasis":
The ASAODBC driver has the following features:
- It is the fastest ASA driver - period
- The driver is able to "discover" which server is running the database - even if the database is later moved to another server.
- For larger groups, failover options are available.
Before setting up the Sybase driver, you will need to know the name or IP address of the server running the OASIS database. The IP address is faster. However, if you think you might be using DHCP, you might use the server name instead.
Set the "Kind" to Sybase. The Server entry should contain either the IP address or the name of the server. For most users, the port number is 2638. The user and password are "oasis" for most users.
