Why use Price Lists?

Why add Price Lists to OASIS?

Let’s start with the goals:

  1. Price (or validate pricing) more quickly
  2. More quickly identify part nomenclature.
  3. Decrease errors which lead to lost commissions.
  4. Provide all CSRs with the same price 100% of the time (eliminates customer frustration when one CSR prices the same fixture higher or lower than another CSR.)
  5. Quickly produce price books for distributors for all represented brands.
  6. Maximize profit on quotes by understanding how manufacturer overage policies impact project profitability.

The next few sections show how OASIS achieves these goals.

Price Lookup

OASIS Price Lookup (PLU) screens are available throughout the application. For simple price checking, the “PLU” application is available from the OASIS application bar. Simply select the Price Lookup, enter the Manufacturer name, in the text box type the part number or use "*" to display the manufacturer’s current price list:

A similar screen is available from all quote and order windows showing a bill of material. Select the part you want to price then on the tool bar select  tools from the drop down select  “Price Lookup”. Normally the F3 key may be pressed to activate the price look up after you select the part you want to view. 

When a price list is activated from an order, special pricing is taken into account. If the customer is assigned to a specific price column (e.g. “Distributor” above) or if price exceptions are found, they are used as described below.

Part Number Drop-Down Lists

Some custom product lines can be difficult to code consistently, resulting in confusion between the agency and the manufacturer (or even the customer). Using drop-down lists, OASIS is able to guide quoters and CSR through the various part number configurations:

Once the item is selected, a number of rules may be applied to select the proper pricing information (description an related information may be added to the quote or order as well).

Creating Price Books

On large advantage of keeping pricing information current in OASIS is the ability to produce price books for customers. The idea is to provide the same pricing to the customer that would otherwise be quoted by a CSR at the agency.

Knowing the Overage!

Understanding commission and overage levels is very important for to the profitability of any agency. OASIS identifies all prices with a related commission, AND tracks the price where the manufacturer pays overage. This allows the quoter to work scenarios where the project profitability is maximized:

Book is for reference only. OBase and the related commission is the price where the manufacturer pays overage. Base is simply the initial price pulled from the price list based on the rules defined below. Sell is the customer’s price. When the price is greater than the OBase column, the commission is calculated as the commission at the overageable price plus the agency’s take of the overage.
