Sales Goals

Overview

Goals are important for any group. Setting your company, group or salespersons goals and achieving them can be an integral part of your success, and OASIS can help. Goals may be created and used for company-wide tracking, individual manufacturers or customers, or even salespersons.

You can set goals for your company several different ways:

  • By Manufacturer
  • Sales Person by Manufacturer
  • By Customer
  • Sales Person by Customer
  • Set a time frame and report any time through the start and end date
  • Plus report on all "tracked" goals the same time (report)

Sales Goals reports in OASIS use Year-to-Date (YTD) comparisons to Last YTD, percentages of last year’s sales dollars and others. The reporting year can be moved as well allowing for past reports. These goals are designed to see how you are doing whether for the company or an individual at the sales company.

Manufacturer Sales Goals

Go to Manufacturers and open any manufacturer. In the Editor, go to the Goals tab (below)

On the blank line:

  • Name – you must name the goal. (At the current time, the name must be unique across all goals.)
  • Start & End – starting and ending dates of the goal
  • AccountID – if this report is specific to a sales person, enter the salespersons name (enter the persons account ID), if not leave blank.
  • Customer - if this goal is specific to a customer, enter the customer name, if not leave blank.
  • Track – check the box if this goal is to be tracked or reported on
  • Source – by default the source for the data will be “booked” orders not including cancelled orders.
  • EarnAmount – if you want to use Earnings dollars (commission, overage and markup) enter the goal $$
  • SalesAmount – enter sales goal ($$) here if using sales dollars on orders
  • Description - Description of the goal

Create other goals as needed, following the same steps as above. When finished, click Save & Close or OK.

Reporting

One of the Goals reports in OASIS can be found in the Reports section of OASIS.

Go to Reports, then to Worksheets on the toolbar and select “Goals”

The Goals window will appear, asking to view a report, including tracked goals. In this case, select the manufacturer and click OK.

This will produce a report similar to the one below.

Lead or Lag

The "Lead or Lag" column refers to the current performance in achieving the goal in relation to the amount of time that has elapsed in the goal period.

For example that you have a goal of $100,000 dollars for 2015. If at the end of June you have earned 50,000 dollars, you would break even with your goal since half the goal period has elapsed and half the goal has been earned. If at that time you had earned $25,000 dollars, you would have a 50% lag since you would only have earned half the amount you were expecting to get by that point. If at that time you had earned $100,000 dollars, you would have a 100% lead, since you had earned double the expected amount at that time.

Customer Sales Goals

These reports are very similar to the one above except the view is by customer

In the Customer Editor, go to the Goals tab.

On the blank line:

  • Name – you must enter the name of the goal
  • Start & End – starting and ending dates of the goal
  • AccountID – if this is specific to a sales person, enter the salespersons name, if not leave blank.
  • Manufacturer - if this goal is specific to a manufacturer, enter the manufacturer name, if not leave blank.
  • Track – check the box if this goal is to be tracked or reported on
  • Source – by default the source for the data will be “booked” orders not including cancelled orders.
  • EarnAmount – if you want to use Earnings dollars (commission, overage and markup)
  • “SalesAmount” or “EarnAmount” or both– enter sales goal here if using sales dollars on orders, enter Earn Amount if using earnings (meaning commission, overage and markup)
  • Description - Description of the goal

Reporting

One of the Goals reports in OASIS can be found in the Reports section of OASIS. Go to Reports, then to Worksheets on the toolbar and select “Goals”.

The Goals window will appear to view a report, including tracked goals. In this case, select the distributor and hit OK.

This will produce a report similar to the one below.

Sales person sales or earnings goals (for this manufacturer or customer)

Similar to the reports above, except that the report is filtered by salesperson and for a Manufacturer or Customer.

When you setup the sales goal, then add a person (in the AccountID column) and (optional) add either a Customer or Manufacturer. Repeat the report process above. It will show the sales goal for the particular person.
